Today’s workout wasn’t all that intense. Not a bad all around workout for a Sunday morning though. After a brief warmup and a longer session keeping warm while I helped my sister with her workout, this is what I did:
3 rounds, not rigidly timed, but about 18-20 minutes of:
- 30# Kettlebell Swings x10
- 15# Turkish Get Ups x10 (5 each side)
- 30# Sumo Deadlift High Pull x10
- Rope Pull Ups x5
Finished that with some light chanbara sparring with 2 on 1 versus my wife and sister, then practiced Empi Sho for a bit. I have it about 1/2 way down now.
As a side note, my sister is making awesome progress with her workouts. She did a scaled version of what I did above, using 15# for the swings and high pulls, subbed sit ups for the TGU’s and pulled a 15# kettlebell on a ghetto rigged lat pulldown machine I made from tying the bell to a rope and throwing it over a rafter on the shelter at the park. She walked about 3 miles just to get to the park, did her workout, chanbara, and boxed with my wife. She’s doing awesome!

Wow!!! As I’m checking to see how you have been doing on your workouts I see that I got put out there a little bit. I wish other people who read your blog could see where I started but I’m sure they will soon when my journey from fat to fit becomes more a reality than just an idea. Coming very soon hopefully. I just want you to know that this posting has me even more motivated than before. And I just want other not so fit people to know that I understand how hard it is to jump off the couch and fix it. That’s right! Don’t whine about not being in shape or being “fat” if you will.DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! If your body physically can’t do something in one of those overpriced workout videos you got that is now at the bottom of the dvd collection not only collecting dust but probably disinegrating (Pardon my spelling) bcuz it has been untouched for so long- SUBSTITUTE FOR SOMETHING YOU CAN DO!! Before you know it you will be able to do it with no problems. Anyway, thanks for the motivation, encouragement, and patients Broder-mane! We both know where I would be on my way to w/o your intervention.
